皆さん、こんにちは。暑い日が続きますが、皆さんはお元気にされていますでしょうか。
私は子供が夏休みに入り毎日家にいますので、普段よりちょっと忙しくなりました。8月はいくつか子供のイベントに参加するため、Amy’s Weekly Letterはお休みさせて頂きます。
さて、今回休み前のお便りには Louise Hay の”Mirror work” 残りの部分の日本語訳と英語解説をお届けいたします。
It’s not only just saying you love yourself, but do the affirmation in front of the mirror.
自分を愛していると言うだけでなく、鏡の前でそれを肯定してください。
Do forgiveness in front of the mirror.
鏡の前で赦しをしてください。
You have somebody you need to forgive, do it in front of a mirror.
赦す必要がある人がいるなら、鏡の前で赦しをやってください。
If you have a big mirror, sit down in front of it.
大きな鏡があるなら、その前に座りましょう。
Because you won’t run away.
逃げたりはできないでしょう。
You can’t, it’s too hard to get up.
なぜならば、起き上がるのは大変だから。
And you can sit there and you can cry,
座って泣いても構いません。
but you’ll go through it whatever it is, and it’ll be fast.
そうすることで、あなたはどんなことでも乗り越えられますし、乗り越えるのも速いです。
The mirror, as small as it may be, can really help you connect with yourself.
鏡は小さくても、自分自身とつながるのにとても役立ちます。

【英語解説】
・ It’s not just, but (also)… それだけではなく、～～も（あります）
例：Exercise is not just good for your physical health, but also good for your mental health.（運動は体の健康に良いだけではなく、精神的な健康にも良いです。）
ここでの「just」は「only」にも置き換えられます。
・It’s too hard to + Verb: （何かやるの）は大変すぎる、難しすぎる。
例：It’s too hard to watch the comedy without laughing out loud.（声を出さずにコメディを見るのは難しすぎます。）
It’s too hard for me to start learning a new language after 50, but I am trying to do it anyway.（50歳を過ぎてから新しい言語を学び始めるのは大変ですが、とにかく努力しています。）
It’s too hard for him to ignore her because she is so beautiful and attractive.（彼女はとても美しくて魅力的なので、彼にとって彼女を無視するのはあまりにも難しすぎます。）
・go through (something): （物理的に）通り抜ける、（抽象的に）乗り越える、経験する。
イメージ的にはトンネル等を通り抜ける感じです。ここでは困難などをgo throughでしたら、困難などを経験する（進行形のほうが多い）、または乗り越える（過去形のほうが多い）という意味になります。
例：She’s been going through a bad time recently.（彼女は最近、ひどい時期を過ごしている。）
He went through his financial crisis with the support from his family. （彼は家族の支援を受けて経済的危機を乗り越えた。）
